INTERVIEW WITH JULEN
I'm Julen Pérez, although many know me as Julen Barber. I have been running my own salon in Torrevieja (Alicante) since 2004, and this year I have taken a very special step in my career: I have joined the Beardburys family as an ambassador.
In addition to being a national trainer, sharing techniques with professionals from all over the country, I have had the honor of representing Spain in the ONB 2021 European Championship as part of the national team. An experience that marked me and that drives me every day to continue growing.
Some achievements that have brought me here:

- Barber Battle Alicante 2021 , champion comb and scissors
- Champion national league ONB 2021 Corte Caballero
- Third prize in the National League ONB 2023 in free styles.
1. What do you like most about being a barber?
What I like most about being a barber is the possibility of constantly creating, so it will never be a job but a hobby, I think that people have come to this world to create and not to do, when you do, you are working but when you create, you are enjoying.
2. How did you start in the world of barbering?
I started my barbering studies in 2002, it was by chance, I was a waiter in a restaurant owned by my father and they wanted to sell it, out of necessity one day it occurred to me that barbering would be a good profession and I began my studies, soon I started working in a nursing home as a barber while I was studying and before finishing my studies I set up my first barbershop.
3. What do your customers value most in your barbershop?
What our clients value the most is the totally personalized treatment, we take into account their style, their cranial map, their type of face and their hair genetics.
4. How do you see the world of barbering today?
Being a barber is a fashionable profession, with social networks everything has been magnified a lot, there are more and more academies and people come out more prepared.
5. What is the best advice you have been given, and what would you say to a barber who is starting out?
The best advice I have been given is to be myself, to someone who is starting out in barbering exactly that, be yourself, don't try to work like anyone else but try to absorb tips from everyone and never stop learning.
6. What is the most challenging thing about working in the barbershop? What is the negative part that clients don't see?
The most challenging thing is being up to date on trends and knowing how to translate them to each client.
The hours of training that you don't see, the time you take away from your family working or networking.
7. What are your favorite Beardburys products and why?

8. What does being a Beardburys ambassador mean to you?
To be an ambassador of the brand is for me a great pride, it is the reference brand in my country and to be associated with the biggest ones I feel that it makes me big too.

10. And finally, what are your goals for this year?
This year I hope to consolidate my second salon, continue with the training tour and keep growing, which I'm sure I'll achieve with Beardburys.
