After three generations of hairdressers, Roberto Moreno has followed the family tradition and has continued the legacy with his own barbershop P&L (Madrid) with a totally innovative and personalised concept for each client, without losing the essence that he has acquired with his family.

In his barbershop he has a very professional and qualified team, who he leaves in charge when he comes to give the different trainings of the most avant-garde techniques of cut and colour. Do you know all his story? We bring it to you in his interview for SOYBARBUDO magazine.

READ ON!

Roberto Moreno comes from a family of hairdressers, with me being the third generation. I have been working as a hairdresser for 28 years, and I have spent the last 19 years in my barbershop P&L, in Vallecas (Madrid).

P&L Barbería was born in 2004 because I realised that in my previous unisex salon, men were demanding a space for themselves, and so I focused my professional career on male grooming, but in an innovative way, including creative colour techniques, specialised cuts and above all a personalised treatment and study for each client.

Name: Roberto Moreno

When I was a child I wanted to be: I always liked being a hairdresser. Almost my whole family is in this wonderful profession. That's why it was clear to me since I was a child.

A reference in the barber world: My uncle Mariano with whom I started working 28 years ago and who taught me to feel, live and love hairdressing.

A song: Lou Reed - What's Good

Your favourite quote: "Nihil est in intellectu quod prius non fuerit in sensu" (There is nothing in the intellect that has not first been in the senses).

Best advice you've ever been given: I don't believe in advice, but I'm very good at giving it, especially to my clients who often tell us their stories and confidences.

Your first job as a hairdresser: Following the family tradition, it was in Te-Mar Peluqueros with my uncle Mariano and my aunt Tele... and with my cousins Jose Antonio, Jorge, David and Bea, with whom I shared great moments and helped me to forge what I am today.

Style that you most like to work with: 99% of what I do is a commercial style, but there is 1% of my work that I really enjoy and that is creative colour.

Your favourite male grooming product: Dry Wax by Beardburys without a doubt. It allows me to leave very natural looks which is one of the hallmarks of my business.

Best moment of your professional career so far: Uff, my profession has given me so many moments. Although if I have to choose one, I would choose the day I went up to the Beardburys stand at Salón Look in Madrid and among the audience were my mother, my aunts and uncles (all of them hairdressers, 10 in total), admiring my work and supporting me in every step I have taken.

A current male grooming trend: Beards that are much shorter and easier to take care of.

A dream to fulfil: To take the pictures of the next Beardburys collection :)

What do you look for when choosing a brand of products for your business: First of all, product quality, which is paramount. Then, an attractive design, and lastly, a wide variety of products to be able to meet each of my customers' needs.

Addicted to: Music.

Favourite food and drink: Paella and vermouth.

Tip you recommend to your clients: Use matte wet wax to add some weight to the hair and control frizz leaving a very natural style.

Your dream car and bike: 67 Ford mustang fastback ;)
