Sonia discovered her true vocation and passion in hairdressing from an early age.

Her constant desire to improve, her attention to detail and her perfectionism, have led her to visit the best national and international trainers and masters of hairdressing and barbering, being able to learn the most avant-garde techniques. Techniques that she has subsequently implemented in her hairdressing and barbering salon, DUE in Ortigueira (La Coruña).

Her love for the profession has led her to combine her business facet with teaching, providing training in various public education agencies and being a member of the team of trainers of Beardburys.

Where did your vocation as a barber come from?

It was my grandmother who was always very clear that my vocation would be hairdressing. She doubted whether to do Projects and Decoration Works Management or hairdressing. When I decided on hairdressing, my grandmother told me that from a very early age I was excited and passionate about everything that had to do with hairstyling, makeup and shaving. Barbering is an extension of my passion for the world of hairdressing. I delved into learning barbering, which captivated all my senses.

Where did you start working as a barber?

At the age of 25 I left the city of Santiago de Compostela to start my first solo project in Ortigueira. That's where my great dream began. Until then I had made small immersions in the world of barbering, but it is in Ortigueira where my development and study for barbering begins. In DUE we offer a wide range of male hairdressing and barbering services. From the beginning we have taken into account the needs and personalized care of our bearded, enabling a special space for them. I have had the good fortune to meet my teacher Vishal Baharani, who has been instrumental in my professional growth, and to whom I will be eternally grateful for his enormous generosity.

What do you like most about your work?

What I value most are the sensations and emotions that our clients transmit to us, which makes us improve day by day.

What style do you like to work with the most?

Creating a natural gradient style, respecting a shading of the hair in the short areas. Merging several lengths in the upper part of the hair, bringing irregularity to the cut and consequently versatility in the hairstyles. I like the beard with a natural and casual look. The beard that confers character, and to be able to shape a cut and care always personalized.

Who are your references in barbering?

As references I have to mention Vishal Baharani, Joslamonaca, Erika Vera or Maksim Nikitochkin. Without forgetting my colleagues at Beadburys, Juan Valdivia, Roberto Moreno and Victor V de Rubert whose professional career is indisputable and remarkable.

What do you value most in a barber?

The constant sacrifice to be always up to date with the latest fashion trends and their many hours of work. It's a philosophy of life that many don't understand.

How do you see the level of barbering in Spain?

It is incredible to see the work of Spanish barbers of enormous talent and good taste. Barbering in Spain has finally been given the place it deserves. We enjoy an immense talent in Spain, where young promises are stepping strong. Without forgetting our traditional barbershop, which is and will be the key to understand our profession. We are a great international reference

What about barbering brands in Spain?

We have both national and international brands of great quality. Personally, I prefer to work with a single brand, get to know it in depth and get the most out of it. How do you see the future of barbering?

People need to look good, and we professionals must always be up to date to be able to offer them all the styles and techniques to do so. I don't know what the future holds for us, but I do know that we are on the right track, we are a worldwide reference in barbering.
